Job Title

Logic Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join AMD's mixed-signal high-speed I/O design team to develop digital logic and microarchitecture for ASICs, collaborate with verification and physical-design teams, and support silicon bring-up and diagnostics. The role involves RTL development, design flow automation, timing closure coordination, and delivering optimizations for performance and power.

This role is located in Santa Clara, CA and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting does not specify explicit years of experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and validating digital logic and collaborating across teams to bring ASICs to silicon.

  • Analyze complex digital design problems and propose architecture/microarchitecture solutions.
  • Develop Verilog RTL and functional behavioral models.
  • Create microarchitecture specifications and maintain design documentation.
  • Develop and drive ASIC design flows and automation scripts.
  • Collaborate with Design Verification to ensure functional correctness.
  • Work with Physical Design for proper implementation and timing closure.
  • Deliver design improvements, optimizations, and power-saving enhancements.
  • Support silicon bring-up, diagnostics, and post-silicon validation.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes, followed by preferred/nice-to-have skills.

  • Proven experience in digital logic design and microarchitecture.
  • Hands-on experience writing Verilog RTL and behavioral models.
  • Experience with ASIC design flows, scripting, and design automation.
  • Practical experience collaborating with verification and physical-design teams for timing closure.
  • Experience supporting silicon bring-up and debugging.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, initiative, and effective cross-team communication.
  • Authorized to work in the United States; role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Nice-to-have: analog mixed-signal design experience, high-speed interfaces (DDR, GDDR, HBM, high-speed SERDES), multi-power-domain and multi-clock-domain designs, analog behavioral modeling, and experience with industry-standard ASIC CAD tools (simulation, synthesis, STA, CDC, UPF, power estimation).

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
