Entry-level — 2+ years of software development experience in embedded systems.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining system management firmware, adding SoC support, and ensuring integration with boot and OS components.
- Architect system management features across the i.MX portfolio and define SoC hardware support.
- Port system management firmware to new i.MX SoCs and development boards.
- Develop tests to increase firmware code coverage and measure performance metrics.
- Create and maintain documentation and support collateral for system management firmware.
- Collaborate with SoC architects, BSP teams (System ROM, U-Boot, ATF, Linux, MCU SDK) and internal support teams to integrate, port, debug and optimize firmware on customer systems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Minimum 2 years of software development experience with embedded systems.
- Proficiency in C programming for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with Linux shell and standard development tools (GIT, make, etc.).
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A architectures.
- Knowledge of ARM assembly language.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with embedded debug tools and probes (e.g. Lauterbach).
- Knowledge of power management (DVFS, CPUIdle, suspend-to-RAM) in embedded systems.
- Experience with HDL (Verilog, VHDL).
- Familiarity with the ARM System Control and Management Interface (SCMI) specification.
