Job Title

Linux Software Engineer

Role Summary

Work on the i.MX software team to develop and integrate Linux Board Support Packages (BSP) and kernel drivers for i.MX microprocessors. Collaborate with an international, cross-functional engineering team to deliver safe and secure embedded products.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Expectation: 1+ years of software development experience with embedded systems.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include integration, maintenance, and development of Linux software for i.MX platforms.

  • Integrate new i.MX devices into the Linux BSP and deliver high-quality releases.
  • Maintain and evolve software for existing i.MX products according to the Linux software strategy.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Linux kernel drivers on i.MX platforms.
  • Contribute upstream to the Linux kernel and engage with open-source communities.
  • Perform low-level bring-up and debugging on ARM-based hardware as needed.
  • Execute security-related tasks when required for certification or product compliance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 1+ years of software development experience with embedded systems.
  • Experience in embedded firmware development.
  • Experience with Linux kernel development and device drivers.

Nice-to-have:

  • General CPU / computer architecture knowledge.
  • Deep understanding of Linux internals (memory, scheduling, drivers).
  • Experience with ARM-based hardware bring-up and low-level debugging.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, particularly the Linux kernel.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
