Linux Development Engineer

Role Summary

Design, implement, and maintain low-level Linux software components and tools across the Linux stack for Intel platforms. Focus areas include device drivers (USB/PCIe), Bluetooth software and controller support, kernel/RTOS integration, porting, backporting, and codebase maintenance.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 7+ years of professional experience; experienced individual contributor.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and delivering software across Linux layers and maintaining production-quality code for platform features.

• Design, develop, integrate, test, validate, and debug software across the Linux stack (drivers, kernel, frameworks, and user-space tools).
• Develop and maintain USB and PCIe device drivers and related subsystems.
• Develop Bluetooth software and tools; implement controller BR/EDR and Low Energy support.
• Perform Linux porting, upstreaming, backporting, and multi-branch code maintenance.
• Work on RTOS and system-level integration where required.
• Maintain code quality, manage codebases, and participate in reviews and CI processes.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and platform teams to enable product features.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

• 7+ years of experience as an individual contributor (experience working on embedded/Linux systems).
• Proficient in C and C++ development.
• Experience with Linux kernel development and device drivers.
• Experience with RTOS system-level design and integration.
• Hands-on experience with Linux porting, upstreaming, backporting, and multi-tree maintenance.
• Knowledge of USB and PCIe protocols and their software stacks.
• Experience maintaining and managing large codebases and ensuring code quality.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related technical field (as specified). The posting also expects multiple years of relevant professional experience.
