Job Title
Lead Validation Engineer (UWB)
Role Summary
Lead the pre-silicon and post-silicon validation activities for SoCs with a focus on peripheral interfaces and embedded firmware. Own validation strategy, test development, first-silicon bring-up, root-cause analysis, and product qualification across FPGA, emulation, and silicon platforms.
Collaborate with Design, Verification, Firmware, and Architecture teams to ensure feature completeness, performance, and compliance.
Experience Level
Senior β 7+ years of relevant pre- and post-silicon validation experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning and executing validation activities, debugging silicon, and delivering production-ready qualification results.
- Review architecture and micro-architecture to derive validation scope and coverage metrics.
- Develop validation plans, test strategies, stress tests, and coverage metrics for subsystem and SoC levels.
- Execute validation on FPGA, emulation, and silicon; lead first-silicon bring-up and characterization.
- Validate functional correctness, compliance, throughput, latency, and error scenarios for peripherals.
- Debug hardware, firmware, and system-level issues using logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, SWD, and trace tools.
- Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions with cross-functional teams; support field failure analysis and customer issues.
- Develop embedded C firmware, board bring-up software, drivers, and RTOS/bare-metal validation applications.
- Implement test automation frameworks and write automation/data-analysis scripts (Python, Shell, Perl).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.
- 7+ years of pre-silicon and post-silicon validation experience for SoCs/ASICs.
- Strong understanding of SoC architecture, subsystem interactions, and hardware-software integration.
- Experience with ARM-based multicore SoCs and embedded systems.
- Proven debugging and problem-solving skills using lab equipment and protocol analyzers.
- Experience validating peripheral interfaces such as QSPI/XSPI, I2S, UART, SPI, I2C/I3C, CAN/CAN-FD, and LIN.
- Embedded firmware and driver development experience (C); board bring-up and diagnostic framework development.
- Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting for validation (Python, Shell, Perl).
- Nice-to-have: experience with FPGA and emulation platforms, UWB domain knowledge, RTOS-based validation applications.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
