Lead Systems Debug Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Server Customer Engineering team to lead post-silicon debug and customer issue resolution for AMD server SoC products. The role focuses on diagnosing complex hardware and system failures, enabling customers, and coordinating cross-functional engineering teams to implement scalable solutions.

Senior β€” 10+ years of relevant systems debug, validation, or post-silicon experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities involve customer-facing debug, cross-team coordination, and technical leadership across system bring-up and production phases.

  • Investigate RAS, PCIe, CXL, DDR memory, MCA/MCE, and microcontroller-related failures with customers.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to define and deliver corrective actions and workarounds.
  • Provide validation and debug recommendations for customer validation, new features, and escalations.
  • Use debug tools (debug scripts, protocol analyzers, SCAN, JTAG, scopes) to narrow and root-cause failures.
  • Debug issues across process, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SoC programs.
  • Engage with software, hardware, and design teams and lead multi-team task forces to resolve complex issues.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience required for this role. Candidates should have strong hands-on debug experience and customer-facing leadership.

  • 10+ years of experience in systems debug, validation, or post-silicon engineering.
  • Proven experience debugging RAS, PCIe/CXL functional and protocol issues, DDR memory validation, and MCA/MCE problems.
  • Hands-on use of protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG/SCAN tools and similar test equipment.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills (Python required; C++, Perl, Ruby or similar preferred).
  • Familiarity with x86 microarchitecture and post-silicon validation methodologies.
  • Experience leading multi-team debugging efforts and working directly with customers.
  • Excellent debug techniques and troubleshooting methodology.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
