Job Title

Lead Systems Application Engineer (Software)

Role Summary

Responsible for software-driven system integration and customer-facing support for next-generation AI networking platforms and high-speed optical interconnects. The role focuses on API-level control, automation, module management, and system-level debugging for 800G/1.6T optical transceivers and 51.2T-class switch architectures.

This position works across software, optics, and hardware teams to enable reliable, scalable integration of optical modules into data-center networking environments.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting implies substantial hands-on experience with networking systems, optical transceivers, and systems integration; no specific years-of-experience were stated.

Responsibilities

Primary technical responsibilities include system integration, customer engagement, debugging, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Lead software-driven integration for 51.2T and next-generation switches: API configuration, automation frameworks, and module management for 800G/1.6T transceivers.
  • Act as the primary technical interface for customers; translate requirements into software-supported, end-to-end solutions.
  • Debug interoperability issues across switch OS/SDKs, DSP firmware, protocol stacks (L1/L2), and optical module control interfaces.
  • Create and run demos, software workflows, and validation scripts for switch bring-up, link diagnostics, and performance verification.
  • Collaborate with software, optical, hardware, thermal, and mechanical teams to ensure scalable integration.
  • Develop scripts, tools, and automation (Python or similar) to accelerate triage, link tuning, and test execution.
  • Monitor industry standards and emerging technologies in AI networking and module management.

Requirements

Core technical skills and customer-facing abilities required; separated into must-have and nice-to-have items.

Must-have:

  • Strong understanding of optical transceivers: control interfaces, configuration protocols, and performance metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with DSP configuration tools, module firmware interaction, and high-speed link debugging.
  • Deep familiarity with switch software, including OS/SDK configuration, management protocols, and Layer 1/Layer 2 behavior.
  • Proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages for automation, debugging, and system-level validation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and customer-facing skills; able to work independently and across distributed teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with 800G modules, 1.6T architectures, or 51.2T switches.
  • Prior experience at optical-transceiver or networking-system companies.
  • Experience with AI networking platforms, module management protocols, and emerging switch architectures.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
