Role Summary

Lead and manage the firmware test development team responsible for SSD/storage product validation. Deliver test strategies, frameworks, automation, and tools to ensure firmware quality across product releases.

The role collaborates with firmware, hardware, and systems teams to define test coverage, diagnose defects, and improve development throughput and product reliability.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 8 to 12 years of experience managing test development teams within the storage domain.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include team leadership, test strategy, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Lead and mentor a firmware test development team; manage priorities and deliverables.
• Define test strategies, validation plans, and acceptance criteria for SSD firmware.
• Design, implement, and maintain test frameworks, automation, and tooling.
• Create and execute firmware-level test cases, unit tests, and system integration tests.
• Develop scripting and tooling (primarily Python) to support test automation and data analysis.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and system engineering to triage issues and drive root-cause analysis.
• Ensure test processes meet quality, security, and IP safeguards; work under multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Promote and integrate AI-enabled workflows where appropriate while maintaining human-in-the-loop validation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience followed by desirable skills.

• 8–12 years experience managing test development teams in the storage domain.
• Extensive experience with embedded firmware development and firmware testing methodologies.
• Proficient programming and scripting skills, especially Python; experience with automation tools and test environments.
• Technical expertise in storage (SSD, HDD, storage systems) and familiarity with NAND flash technologies.
• Understanding of storage interfaces such as PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS.
• Proven team leadership and experience supervising junior engineers and technicians.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under pressure.
• Proficient in leveraging approved generative AI tools to accelerate firmware development workflows and willing to follow AI governance and training requirements.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience applying AI agents or agentic workflows for firmware debugging, triage, and root-cause analysis.
• Prior experience with advanced AI-assisted code generation, unit-test generation, or AI-driven test-coverage improvements.
