Role Summary

Lead the GUI and core workflow architecture for Quantus Insight, Cadence's parasitic extraction platform. Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to design high-performance application architecture and scalable workflows.

Primary focus areas: Qt-based desktop UI development, multi-threaded high-load dataflows, IPC and SKILL integration for cross-tool interoperability.

Experience Level

Senior — Lead role. The posting lists experience guidance of 4-6 years (4+ years professional software development; 5+ years when holding an advanced degree).

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable, high-performance software components that connect the computation backend to interactive UI and other EDA tools.

• Design internal dataflows and workflows to move very large datasets between backend engines and UI layers.
• Architect and optimize core, UI-agnostic data structures and algorithms for throughput and memory efficiency.
• Implement asynchronous multi-threading and parallel processing to isolate heavy background database work from interactive UI.
• Design and maintain high-performance IPC mechanisms for low-latency communication with other Cadence tools.
• Expose programmatic interfaces to integrate with SKILL runtime and ensure dynamic state synchronization with the GUI.
• Develop Qt-based C++ UI components (widgets, model/view) optimized for lazy loading, paging, and minimal memory overhead.
• Profile, debug, and tune application and UI performance in Linux environments under heavy CPU and memory load.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for success in this role.

• Expert modern C++ (C++17 or newer) including STL and idiomatic patterns.
• Proven experience building complex desktop application UIs and integrating them with backend engines.
• Strong Linux development skills and experience with debugging and profiling tools such as GDB and Valgrind.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, and full software development lifecycle.
• Experience designing and implementing multithreaded, high-throughput systems that handle large datasets.
• Practical experience with systems programming and IPC primitives (shared memory, sockets, pipes) is desirable.
• Nice-to-have: Qt framework experience, SKILL or Lisp-dialect familiarity, and EDA domain knowledge (parasitic extraction, layout connectivity).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
