Lead Software Engineer
Role Summary
As a member of the Placement Team, you will lead design and implementation of detailed placement algorithms and software for advanced semiconductor process nodes, with emphasis on lithography-driven placement and integration with routing and optimization flows. The role focuses on developing, debugging, and maintaining production-grade software on Unix/Linux platforms and working with cross-functional teams to improve performance and quality.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include owning core placement technology, ensuring code quality, and collaborating across teams.
- Lead development and maintenance of core placement algorithms and tools.
- Design, implement, and enhance advanced placement methodologies for leading-edge nodes.
- Collaborate with Routing and OPT teams to define and develop next-generation algorithms.
- Conduct peer code reviews and enforce standards for scalability, thread safety, and test coverage.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software on Unix/Linux platforms.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve solution quality, performance, and usability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Strong software development skills in C/C++.
- Solid understanding of QoR (Quality of Results) and PPA (Performance, Power, Area) optimization.
- Proven experience with EDA back-end design flows (placement, timing analysis, optimization, routing).
- Experience developing complex software systems on Unix/Linux platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience working with TSMC and semiconductor design companies.
Education Requirements
M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required; Ph.D. is preferred.
