Lead SoC Validation Engineer - ARM-based SoCs
Role Summary
The Lead SoC Validation Engineer will plan and execute end-to-end silicon validation for ARM-based SoC programs, leading a small team through first-silicon bring-up to production release.
Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, software, product engineering, and board teams to achieve validation signoff and production readiness.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 10+ years of industry experience in silicon or SoC validation.
Responsibilities
Lead validation strategy and execution, mentor engineers, and own delivery of silicon validation milestones.
- Define validation plans, coverage models, regression strategies, and execution metrics.
- Drive silicon bring-up and feature validation for ARM-based SoCs.
- Validate high-speed interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR, SerDes, and related subsystems.
- Validate multimedia/video IPs including display, video processing, imaging, and codec subsystems.
- Develop and execute validation tests on bare-metal and Linux environments; automate regressions.
- Debug complex issues spanning silicon, RTL, firmware, drivers, and operating systems.
- Coordinate with Architecture, Design, Verification, Software, Product Engineering, and Board teams.
- Drive production readiness, issue tracking, risk assessment, and validation signoff activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 10+ years of industry experience in silicon validation or SoC validation.
- Hands-on experience with ARM-based SoC architectures.
- Proven experience validating high-speed peripherals (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR, SerDes).
- Experience validating multimedia/video/display/imaging IPs and codecs.
- Solid understanding of RTL architecture and digital design fundamentals.
- Embedded software development and debug in C; strong Linux development and debug experience.
- Experience with Vivado-based FPGA designs and prototyping environments.
- Scripting and automation using Python, Shell, or similar languages.
- Strong hardware/software debug skills and system-level troubleshooting.
- Experience leading and mentoring a small engineering team.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
