Lead SoC Emulation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead emulation and FPGA prototyping for SoC designs, deliver qualified emulation/FPGA models for pre-silicon validation, and coordinate with design verification and infrastructure teams. Mentor junior engineers and drive end-to-end emulation solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 13+ years of experience in ASIC design verification and/or FPGA/emulator prototyping.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Prototype SoC designs for emulators and FPGAs and run pre-silicon tests.
- Develop and validate emulation/FPGA models on platforms such as Palladium, ZeBu, Veloce, or Protium.
- Integrate design, programming, and infrastructure components with SOC DV and emulation infrastructure stakeholders.
- Deliver "qualified" emulation/FPGA models to pre-silicon validation teams.
- Perform hands-on bring-up of emulation models and protocol features.
- Debug functional simulation issues and resolve complex integration problems.
- Mentor and guide junior team members and lead technical solutions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; listed separately from education.
- Minimum 13+ years in ASIC design verification and/or FPGA/emulator prototyping.
- Strong knowledge of ASIC design flow and SoC architecture.
- Experience with one or more protocols: DDR/LPDDR, PCIe/NVMe, USB2/3/4, Gigabit Ethernet, SATA.
- Experience building emulation models from scratch and hands-on emulation bring-ups.
- Excellent debugging skills in functional simulation environments.
- Proficient in Verilog, SystemVerilog, PLI interfaces, C/C++, and scripting (Perl/shell).
- Strong communication skills and ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Nice-to-have: experience with low-power concepts/verification (NLP/UPF).
Education Requirements
B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
