Lead Product Planner

Role Summary

The Lead Product Planner will own definition and planning for a next-generation FPGA or product family, drive roadmap prioritization, validate requirements with customers, and communicate direction across the company.

This role leads cross-functional planning teams (Planners, Architects, Engineering, Marketing, Applications) and participates in strategic product and planning processes.

Experience Level

Senior level. The role expects extensive industry experience (10+ years minimum; senior/lead experience and longer tenure preferred).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include product roadmap ownership, cross-functional leadership, and customer-driven product definition.

• Lead definition and planning activities for next-generation Altera FPGA or product family.
• Own roadmap for a future device or product family: prioritization, customer validation, and internal/external communication.
• Lead a cross-functional team to establish and maintain the Plan of Record from concept through mass production.
• Represent Product Planning in leadership teams and relevant forums.
• Gather system-level requirements from customers and internal stakeholders, and synthesize Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).
• Coordinate with business stakeholders and partners to translate customer needs into product definitions.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and core skills followed by preferred qualifications.

• 10+ years of relevant experience in hardware design, product planning/management, customer support, or technical marketing.
• 10+ years of experience with semiconductor development and manufacturing (FPGA, ASIC/ASSP, processors).
• 8+ years of experience interacting directly with customers.
• Proven leadership in cross-functional programs; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to drive decisions and influence stakeholders.
• Strong business and technical acumen with experience in vertical markets and FPGA solutions.

Preferred:

• 15+ years of experience in semiconductor or related roles.
• Knowledge of FPGA architecture and FPGA development methodology.
• Experience architecting FPGA-based solutions for end-market applications.
• Proven track record of driving innovative products and influencing product strategy.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
