Job Title

Lead Product Engineer

Role Summary

Work on product engineering for the Genus Synthesis Solution to improve Power, Performance & Area (PPA) and bridge gaps between logic synthesis and place-and-route flows. The role combines R&D verification, field support, interoperability testing, and requirements documentation for new features.

Short motivating note: contribute to the usability and technical quality of a production EDA product used by internal teams and external customers.

Experience Level

Senior - lead-level role. Typically requires significant experience in digital implementation and EDA (often 7+ years).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include validating new features, solving physical-aware synthesis problems, and supporting customers and field engineers.

  • Perform product engineering and experiments on Genus to achieve best-in-class PPA for advanced-node digital ASICs.
  • Verify correctness of new features, evaluate internal flows, and determine optimal solutions.
  • Solve challenges in physical-aware synthesis to improve integration between synthesis and place-and-route.
  • Provide first-line technical support and interface between R&D and customers/field engineers.
  • Verify interoperability of Genus with other Cadence digital tools to enable seamless flows.
  • Gather customer requirements and document Product Requirement Specifications (PRS) for new features.
  • Debug complex timing, logical, and physical design issues and perform root-cause analysis to propose fixes.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience. "Must-have" items are listed first; "nice-to-have" items follow.

  • Must-have: Strong background in logic design and synthesis, and practical timing closure skills for block- and top-level designs.
  • Must-have: Product, application, or design engineering experience in digital implementation and synthesis.
  • Must-have: Automation skills using Perl, Tcl and shell scripting.
  • Must-have: Strong analysis and debugging skills for timing, logical, and physical design problems; ability to perform root-cause analysis and communicate solutions to customers and R&D.
  • Must-have: Experience supporting customers or field engineers and documenting technical requirements.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with Cadence Genus and Innovus or other EDA tools in the digital implementation flow.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with synthesis/physical design and timing closure at 28nm and below (20nm or below preferred).
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Knowledge of HDL (Verilog/SystemVerilog), formal verification, and low-power design techniques.

Education Requirements

BE / BTech / ME / MS / MTech or equivalent degree; or equivalent practical experience.
