Job Title

Lead PM, Program/Project Manager – Embedded Software

Role Summary

Lead embedded software programs across the full product development lifecycle for next‑generation MCU and SoC products. The role coordinates embedded firmware, drivers, RTOS, bootloaders, low‑level I/O and silicon enablement while aligning software, hardware, validation, systems and customer teams.

Works within the Software & Digital Platforms organization to ensure disciplined execution, risk mitigation, and on‑time delivery of combined silicon + firmware programs.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 7–10 years of hands‑on program/project/TPM experience managing embedded software programs.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities focus on program execution, cross‑discipline coordination, risk management and continuous improvement.

  • Own and drive large embedded software programs to meet scope, schedule, budget and quality targets.
  • Lead Agile project management processes across firmware, drivers, RTOS, silicon, hardware, validation and systems teams.
  • Align firmware and silicon milestones (ES samples, EVT/DVT/PVT, bring‑up timelines, post‑silicon validation).
  • Proactively identify, mitigate and manage risks in silicon‑software integration.
  • Manage and optimize matrixed engineering resources across multiple projects and time zones.
  • Define, track and report embedded‑centric KPIs and program metrics to senior engineering leadership.
  • Lead retrospectives and lessons‑learned; drive continuous improvement and standardization of processes.
  • Ensure adherence to company procedures and engineering standards throughout execution.

Requirements

Must‑have technical program management experience and embedded systems understanding. Preferred items listed where applicable.

  • 7–10 years of hands‑on Program/Project/TPM experience managing embedded software programs (firmware, drivers, RTOS, BSP, low‑level SW); not enterprise IT or cloud programs.
  • Practical experience with firmware and driver development (Linux, bare‑metal, HAL) and RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, embOS or VxWorks.
  • Experience with bootloaders, BSP, secure boot, low‑level peripheral drivers, power/clock management, SoC initialization and hardware bring‑up.
  • Familiarity with MCUs, SoCs, ASICs, DSPs, wireless chipsets, PMICs or mixed‑signal products and semiconductor development lifecycles.
  • Hands‑on engineering background — experience writing embedded software, developing drivers, designing silicon blocks, or contributing to hardware/board design.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience solving complex technical problems using structured experiments and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with PM and engineering tools such as MS Project, Confluence, JIRA, and JAMA Connect.
  • Demonstrated leadership, decision‑making, communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple programs and aggressive schedules.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes for combined silicon + firmware programs.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (role notes ~10% travel).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Preferred certifications mentioned in the posting: PMP and/or Scrum Master.
