Lead Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead physical implementation activities at the block and chip level, owning floorplan, placement, clock tree synthesis (CTS), routing, verification, timing signoff, and EM/IR analysis for advanced process nodes.
Work with design verification, layout, and signoff teams to resolve physical violations and ensure manufacturability and timing closure. We’re doing work that matters; help solve challenging physical design problems.
Experience Level
Senior (Lead). The posting requests more than 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform block- and chip-level physical design: floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing.
- Execute physical verification and resolve violations (DRC, DFM, LVS, ANT, ERC).
- Perform static timing analysis and work toward timing closure.
- Conduct EM/IR analysis and address power integrity issues.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate design constraints and signoff requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Strong knowledge of physical design flow and tools for floorplan, placement, CTS, and routing.
- Practical experience fixing physical design violations: DRC, DFM, LVS, ANT, ERC.
- Familiarity with static timing analysis and physical implementation concepts.
- Experience with EM/IR analysis and power integrity troubleshooting.
- Good learning ability, independent problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills; careful and responsible work approach.
- Preferred: experience in chip-level physical verification.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field. The posting specifies more than 3 years of work experience.
