Job Title

Lead NSP STA/Timing Engineer

Role Summary

Lead STA/Timing engineer in Qualcomm's hardware engineering team in Bangalore responsible for static timing analysis, timing convergence and sign-off for multi-mode, multi-voltage domain ASIC designs. Focus areas include timing methodology development, automation, STA-to-SPICE correlation, and cross-functional collaboration with physical design and verification teams.

Drives timing closure and validates timing across process, voltage, and temperature corners using industry STA tools.

Experience Level

Senior. Preferred 7–14 years of STA/timing experience. Qualcomm's posted minimums allow lower experience with advanced degrees; see Education Requirements for details.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Set up, run, review, and sign off STA flows for multi-mode, multi-voltage-domain designs.
  • Perform timing analysis, validation, and debug across multiple PVT corners using PrimeTime/Tempus.
  • Optimize STA flows and perform SPICE-to-STA correlation for timing verification.
  • Evaluate and recommend timing methodologies and tools across designs and technology nodes.
  • Develop automation scripts and tooling within STA/PD environments to improve methodology and efficiency.
  • Drive timing convergence at chip and hard-macro levels in collaboration with physical design and design teams.
  • Document analyses, prepare technical write-ups, and present timing signoff reviews to stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills:

  • Strong STA fundamentals: AOCV/POCV, CTS, timing constraints, latch transparency, 0-cycle and multi-cycle path handling.
  • Hands-on experience with STA tools such as PrimeTime and/or Tempus.
  • Familiarity with RTL-to-GDS digital flow and back-end tools (e.g., ICC/Innovus).
  • Proficient scripting for design automation (TCL, Perl, Python; Awk is a plus).
  • Experience with circuit simulation and process enablement (Hspice/FineSim, Monte Carlo) and SPICE-to-STA correlation.
  • Understanding of cross-talk, signal integrity, layout parasitic extraction, and feed-through handling.
  • Good technical writing and communication skills; ability to work in cross-collaborative environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field (with ~3+ years hardware engineering experience); OR Master's in those fields (with ~2+ years); OR PhD in those fields (with ~1+ year). The posting also lists B.Tech/MTech/MS in Electrical/Electronics/Microelectronics/VLSI as acceptable. Equivalent practical work experience in lieu of a specific degree is permitted per the minimum qualifications.
