Lead technical ownership of FPGA architecture, RTL implementation, verification readiness, hardware bring-up, and cross-functional issue resolution for complex server, storage, networking, AI infrastructure, and rack-level platforms.
Work with system architects, hardware, firmware, validation, manufacturing, and customer teams to ensure programmable logic solutions meet system, schedule, manufacturability, and quality requirements.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5–10 years of relevant FPGA or platform engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical leadership, FPGA development, validation, and cross-domain integration through delivery and manufacturing ramp.
- Lead FPGA development teams, run design reviews, and ensure requirements traceability.
- Act as technical liaison between system architects, program managers, and cross-functional partners.
- Plan and manage technical, cost, and schedule objectives; monitor risks and configuration.
- Lead hardware validation and lab-based debugging on PCBs using scopes, logic analyzers, and similar equipment.
- Investigate and close complex FPGA, hardware, and firmware integration issues during bring-up, validation, manufacturing ramp, and customer escalations.
- Support FPGA verification readiness, release criteria, and disciplined issue management.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote reusable design practices, coding standards, and documentation quality.
- Communicate technical direction, risks, tradeoffs, and status to leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and abilities for the role.
- Expertise in FPGA design flows: RTL development, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, and constraints.
- Experience with FPGA toolchains and devices from vendors such as AMD/Xilinx or Intel/Altera (or equivalent platforms).
- Hands-on lab debug experience and familiarity with lab equipment and hardware bring-up procedures.
- Knowledge of standard digital interfaces and protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, PCIe, and JESD.
- Proven ability to lead technical decisions, perform root-cause analysis, and align multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred: experience with server, storage, networking, accelerator, or PCIe-based compute platforms; experience in manufacturing ramp and customer support.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required. Master’s degree is preferred. The posting specifies approximately 5–10 years of relevant FPGA design, programmable logic development, hardware integration, or platform engineering experience.
