Lead Engineer, Yield Analysis
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Lead Engineer, Yield Analysis
Role Summary
Lead a yield-analysis module to identify, quantify, and eliminate yield limiters across assigned fab modules. Provide data-driven recommendations, publish yield paretos, and drive corrective actions in partnership with process integration, process engineering, probe, and failure analysis teams.
This role owns yield performance for assigned modules and influences sustainable improvements across manufacturing.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Lead). Years of experience not specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include advanced analytics, root-cause investigations, cross-functional coordination, and team development to improve product yield and quality.
- Lead investigations to determine root causes of yield excursions and quantify their impact.
- Develop and publish accurate yield paretos to prioritize fab improvement work.
- Track probe yield performance and trends; explain gaps between target and actual yields.
- Apply statistical and data‑mining techniques for deep-dive analyses and inline correlation studies.
- Collaborate with PI, Probe, PE, EFA, PFA, product, design, and layout teams to translate data into actionable process changes.
- Own module-based data analysis, part-type ownership, and new-part setup activities.
- Define inline detection methods, probe bins, and metrics to detect new fail modes and enable early warning.
- Drive implementation, monitoring, and standardization of yield fixes across teams and sites.
- Automate data extraction and analysis workflows through scripting and querying.
- Lead, coach, and develop direct reports; maintain training and development programs.
Requirements
Key required skills and qualifications for success in this role. Where possible items are divided into must-have and nice-to-have.
Must-have
- Proven experience in semiconductor yield analysis; experience with NAND-related issues preferred.
- Strong statistical and data‑mining skills and experience performing deep‑dive correlation studies.
- Proficiency with data extraction/query languages and scripting to automate analyses (e.g., SQL, Python or equivalent).
- Solid knowledge of probe, metrology, defect, and process interactions; ability to correlate electrical signatures to physical failure modes.
- Experience leading cross-functional investigations and driving corrective actions that improve yield.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear, data-driven yield paretos and yield projections.
- Leadership experience: mentoring, training, and developing team members.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with failure analysis (PFA/EFA), inline monitoring methods, and R&D-to-manufacturing transfers.
- Familiarity with probe/test param development and creating custom metrics for issue quantification.
- Experience integrating AI-assisted tools into analysis workflows and applying role-appropriate AI literacy.
- Experience with automation of data pipelines, ETL, or production reporting systems.
Education Requirements
