Job Title

Lead DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the design-for-test strategy for complex SoCs used in edge-to-cloud AI hardware. Define DFT architecture, ensure manufacturability and field reliability, and coordinate across design, physical, yield, and validation teams.

This role focuses on achieving high test coverage with minimal area, power, and timing impact for advanced FinFET nodes and supports post-silicon bring-up on ATE.

Experience Level

Senior — 12+ years in DFT with at least 2 years in a leadership or principal role.

Responsibilities

Deliver the end-to-end DFT solution from architecture through post-silicon validation for production-quality SoCs targeting edge deployments.

  • Define and implement end-to-end DFT architecture: hierarchical DFT, scan compression, boundary scan, and MBIST.
  • Develop in-system test (IST) and power-on self-test (POST) strategies for remote/edge deployments.
  • Oversee scan insertion, ATPG flows (stuck-at, transition, path delay), and memory/logic BIST implementation.
  • Collaborate with Design, Physical Design, and Yield teams to balance test coverage, area overhead, power impact, and timing.
  • Lead post-silicon bring-up and debug on ATE to root-cause failures and optimize test time.

Requirements

Core technical skills and hands-on DFT experience required for the role.

  • 12+ years of professional DFT experience with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or principal role.
  • Proven mastery of industry DFT tools (examples: Synopsys TestMAX, Siemens/Mentor Tessent, Cadence Modus).
  • Deep expertise in MBIST with repair, SCAN, IJTAG (IEEE 1687), and boundary-scan (IEEE 1149.1/1149.6).
  • Proven track record on advanced FinFET process nodes (7nm, 5nm, or below).
  • Experience managing DFT for low-power designs with multi-voltage domains and power-gating.
  • Hands-on experience with ATPG, scan compression, memory/logic BIST, and post-silicon ATE validation.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and leadership skills to drive DFT across teams.

Nice-to-have: specific experience with edge-focused reliability strategies and remote deployment test flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (engineering, computer science, or similar).
