Job Title
Lead Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead engineer responsible for functional verification of FPGA designs. Develop verification plans, testbenches and environments to validate microarchitecture and ensure designs meet specifications.
Work with architects, RTL, physical-design, systems and software teams to perform pre-silicon validation, debug issues, and improve verification infrastructure and methodology.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 8+ years of technical experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities and driving closure of functional coverage and bugs.
- Develop FPGA verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments to meet microarchitecture specifications.
- Execute verification plans and run system-level and gate-level simulations to verify functionality, power, and timing.
- Replicate, root-cause, and debug issues in the pre-silicon environment and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with FPGA architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to verify complex architectural and microarchitectural features.
- Support integration testing with systems and software engineers as needed.
- Document test plans and lead technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
- Maintain and improve functional verification infrastructure and methodologies.
- Define and execute verification strategies including gate-level and power-aware simulation techniques to achieve feature coverage.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience.
- Proven experience in pre-silicon validation/verification of FPGA designs, IPs or SoCs.
- Hands-on experience with OVM/UVM, SystemVerilog, and constrained-random verification methodologies.
- Protocol verification experience, e.g., DDR and GPIO.
- Deep understanding of the verification lifecycle: architecture, test planning, execution, debug, and coverage closure.
- Experience developing and maintaining validation test suites and driving continuous improvement.
- Experience with FPGA architecture or FPGA prototyping.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. The role typically expects 8+ years of technical experience in verification/validation.
