Job Title
Lead Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead implementation and flow development for physical design and PPA optimization of IP cores and SoC designs. Work on automation, regression infrastructure, and full-chip floorplanning using Cadence EDA tools and AI-based automation. Role is based in Hyderabad and contributes to advanced-node ASIC/SoC delivery for multiple foundries.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 5+ years of relevant ASIC physical design and implementation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain EDA flows, automation scripts and regression infrastructure for physical implementation.
- Optimize TFM and flows to improve performance, power, and area (PPA) for IP and SoC designs.
- Characterize and tune flows across advanced process nodes (TSMC, Intel, Samsung, Rapidus).
- Implement digital designs using Cadence tools such as Genus, Innovus, Conformal, Litmus, Tempus, Voltus, Certus, and Pegasus.
- Automate full-chip floorplanning and partitioning using AI-assisted methods; handle pin assignment and global clock distribution.
- Manage regression infrastructure to track RTL/flow quality and PPA metrics.
- Lead design reviews, mentor team members, and drive technical decisions to meet delivery and quality targets.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Physical design experience in an ASIC/SoC environment with knowledge of synthesis, physical design, timing and power analysis, and formal verification.
- Hands-on experience developing and automating backend flows using Cadence EDA tools.
- Strong expertise in PPA optimization and high-frequency backend methodologies.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation with Python and Tcl.
- Experience managing regression infrastructure and tracking quality and PPA across designs.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Nice-to-have: Full-chip (SoC) floorplanning, pin assignment, and global clock-distribution experience.
Education Requirements
MS / MTech / BE / BTech in Electronics (or equivalent degree) from a reputed institute. The posting specifies 5+ years of relevant experience.
