Lead Custom Layout Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead engineer responsible for custom IC layout and floorplanning for analog and mixed-signal blocks, including high-speed PHYs. Works with circuit designers and system teams to deliver manufacturable, high-performance layouts.

Experience Level

Senior — 4+ years of applicable experience in analog/custom layout of advanced technology nodes.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Define custom layout floorplans and top-level hierarchy for blocks and power domains.
• Implement matching guides and place resistors/capacitors to meet analog performance.
• Minimize coupling and noise; route sensitive and mixed-signal nets.
• Layout for high-speed mixed-signal PHYs (e.g., SerDes, USB, DDR).
• Collaborate with analog circuit designers and digital P&R teams to ensure quality and manufacturability.

Requirements

Key technical skills and attributes:

• Proficient with layout edit and verification tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso XL).
• Experienced with DRC/LVS tools such as Pegasus or Calibre.
• Proficient with EMIR tools (e.g., Voltus-FI) and EMIR analysis workflows.
• Hands-on experience performing DRC/LVS/ERC and EMIR analyses and proposing fixes.
• Fundamental understanding of IC design technology, process, and layout methodology.
• Demonstrated teamwork, self-motivation, and effective English communication skills.
• Nice-to-have:
  • Experience in PERC runs.
  • FinFET layout experience.
  • Experience with ESD/latch-up mitigation.
  • Prior collaboration with digital place-and-route teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; posting specifies 4+ years of applicable experience in analog/custom layout of advanced technology nodes.
