Job Title

Lead ASIC Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead RTL and digital hardware development for complex ASIC/FPGA projects at General Dynamics Mission Systems. The role owns design correctness, drives timing closure and verification, and collaborates with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level; typically requires 8–12+ years of ASIC/FPGA digital design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include RTL ownership, timing closure, verification leadership, and cross-team coordination.

  • Own RTL design with emphasis on correctness, bus fabric integrity, and design-for-verification.
  • Drive timing closure through synthesis, place-and-route, and static timing analysis; identify and address root causes.
  • Lead verification efforts: develop and execute test and simulation plans, verify results, and resolve failures.
  • Manage issue triage and maintain an actionable backlog using JIRA.
  • Conduct RTL code reviews, set technical standards, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support program planning (Integrated Master Schedule, Earned Value reporting) and contribute technical proposal input.
  • Evaluate foundry technologies and EDA tools to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams and cross-division working groups to integrate solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of core qualifications.

  • 8–12+ years of ASIC/FPGA design experience, primarily as an RTL designer.
  • Hands-on experience with ASIC tape-out flows, timing closure, and physical verification.
  • Familiarity with FinFET process nodes (7nm, 5nm, or similar) and commercial foundry flows (e.g., TSMC, GlobalFoundries, Samsung).
  • Strong RTL coding practices and experience with industry-standard EDA tools for synthesis, simulation, and verification.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and drive problem resolution with minimal supervision.
  • Experience using JIRA for issue tracking and backlog management.

Nice-to-have: proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and communication.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
