Job Title
Layout Engineer, DPG IP DEV Layout
Role Summary
Work on analog and mixed-signal IP layout for DRAM and high-performance memory applications (AI, HPC, HBM) as part of Micron's DPG-IPDEV team in Bengaluru. The role focuses on block-level layout, full-chip integration support, and collaboration with global engineering teams across multiple projects.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 3 to 5 years of relevant analog/custom layout experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality layouts and support physical verification and integration across projects.
- Design and develop critical analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital block layouts; support full-chip integration.
- Perform layout verification (LVS/DRC/antenna checks), quality checks, and maintain supporting documentation.
- Deliver block-level layouts on schedule with acceptable quality metrics.
- Estimate area and schedule, plan execution, and coordinate across multiple concurrent projects.
- Communicate effectively with global engineering teams to ensure successful layout projects.
- Contribute to project-management activities required for tape-outs and release milestones.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required or preferred.
-
Must-have: 3β5 years' experience in analog/custom layout design for advanced CMOS processes (Planar, FinFET).
-
Must-have: Proficient with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
-
Must-have: Hands-on layout experience with critical analog blocks (e.g., temperature sensor, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, reference generators, charge pump, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers).
- Strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling/crosstalk, IR-drop, device parasitics, and their effects on speed, capacitance, power, and area.
- Ability to interpret design constraints, implement high-quality layouts, and follow design hierarchy and memory-design architectures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills in physical verification and clear verbal and written communication.
-
Nice-to-have: Multiple tape-out support experience; proactive use of AI-related tools to improve productivity.
Education Requirements
BE or MTech in Electronics / VLSI Engineering.
