Job Title
Layout Engineer, DEG Layout
Role Summary
Work on analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital layout for DRAM-related IPs within Micron’s DPG-IPDEV team. The role supports block-level layout design and full-chip integration for high-performance memory products used in AI and HPC.
Collaborate with global engineering teams across multiple projects to deliver high-quality layouts on schedule.
Experience Level
Mid-level — 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in analog/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include design, verification, delivery, and cross-team coordination for layout projects.
- Design and develop critical analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital blocks, and support full-chip integration.
- Perform layout verification (LVS/DRC/antenna), quality checks, and maintain supporting documentation.
- Deliver block-level layouts on schedule with acceptable quality and support multiple tape-outs.
- Estimate area/time, plan schedules, and manage execution to meet project milestones in a multi-project environment.
- Communicate effectively with global engineering teams to ensure layout project success.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience are listed first; additional advantages are marked as nice-to-have.
-
Must-have: 3–7 years' experience in analog/custom layout design in advanced CMOS processes (Planar, FinFET).
-
Must-have: Hands-on expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
-
Must-have: Experience creating layouts for critical analog blocks such as temperature sensors, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, and differential amplifiers.
-
Must-have: Strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals (matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, parasitics) and how layout affects speed, capacitance, power, and area.
-
Must-have: Ability to understand design constraints, design hierarchy, and memory architectures; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
-
Nice-to-have: Multiple tape-out support experience and proactive use of AI-related tools in daily tasks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or MTech in Electronics/VLSI Engineering required.
