Layout Engineer
Role Summary
Layout Engineer in the Library Group (Central Engineering) responsible for physical implementation and verification of memory, I/O and standard-cell circuits. Deliver high-quality layouts that meet process rules and integration requirements for advanced submicron nodes.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early-career - typically 2 to 3 years of IC layout experience is expected.
Responsibilities
The role performs physical layout and verification work across memory, I/O and standard cells and contributes to layout methodology and integration.
- Implement and verify layouts following layout guidelines, process rules and technical requirements.
- Plan floor‑planning, schedule timelines and manage layout deliveries.
- Perform physical verification (LVS, DRC, ERC) and address antenna and electromigration issues.
- Integrate hierarchical layout blocks and assist chip‑level integration.
- Work independently to complete quality layouts; escalate and communicate issues with the library team.
- Learn and adopt new process nodes and layout methodologies; document layout flows and guidelines.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; listed items marked as preferred where applicable.
- Must: 2–3 years of IC layout experience with strong submicron process knowledge (examples: 16nm, 7nm, 5nm, 2nm, 1.4nm).
- Must: Hands-on Cadence layout (Virtuoso: XL / VXL / EXL) and Cadence schematic capture experience.
- Must: Experience with Calibre and verification tools (DRC, LVS, ERC); familiarity with Hercules noted.
- Must: Experience in digital layout (standard cell, memory, I/O) and physical verification including antenna and electromigration checks.
- Must: Good floor‑planning, hierarchical layout and chip integration experience.
- Preferred: Analog layout experience.
- Preferred: Script programming and SKILL; memory compiler experience is a plus.
- Preferred: Ability to document layout methodology and adapt quickly to new technologies.
- Self-reliant and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
