Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement custom analog/mixed-signal layout for high-speed IPs used in AI, ML, HPC and hyperscale data-center applications. The role is on a multi-geography engineering team developing IPs (e.g., HBM, UCIe, PLL) in advanced FinFET nodes for integration into higher-level SoCs.

Experience Level

Senior-level; typical experience expectations align with 6–8+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver production-quality layouts and perform required verifications for analog and mixed-signal IP blocks.

• Layout and verification of PLLs, phase interpolators, high-speed clock distribution networks.
• Layout of SerDes components: Rx decision-feedback equalizers (DFE), deserializers, TX drivers, serializers.
• Layout of high-speed DACs and ADCs and other mixed-signal blocks.
• Optimize layouts for power, performance, area, and integration into higher-level IP/SoC.
• Collaborate with circuit designers and verification teams to achieve first-time-right tapeouts.

Requirements

Key technical qualifications and skills required for successful performance in this role.

• Must-have: Extensive hands-on experience with layout of high-speed custom analog and digital circuits (SerDes, HBM, UCIe, PLL).
• Must-have: Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso schematic capture and layout flows.
• Must-have: Proven experience designing in advanced FinFET process nodes (experience with 3nm/2nm is expected).
• Must-have: Strong understanding of layout fundamentals and creative problem-solving for circuit placement/routing constraints.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Innovus and physical implementation tools; familiarity with IP used in AI/HPC markets.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of related experience, or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of related experience is strongly preferred.
