Job Title
Layout Engineer
Role Summary
Work as a layout design engineer on Micron's DPG-IPDEV team supporting analog and mixed-signal IP used in DRAM products, high-bandwidth memory and other high-performance applications. The role focuses on block-level layout, physical verification, and full-chip integration across multiple projects with global engineering teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level (3β6 years of relevant industry experience).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include creating and verifying custom layouts and supporting project delivery and integration.
- Design and develop critical analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital block layouts and support full-chip integration.
- Perform physical verification: LVS, DRC, antenna checks, and quality verification; produce supporting documentation.
- Deliver block-level layouts on schedule with acceptable quality and support multiple simultaneous projects.
- Estimate area/time, plan schedules, and execute to meet project milestones.
- Coordinate and present technical status to global engineering teams to ensure layout project success.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 3β6 years of analog/custom layout experience in advanced CMOS processes (Planar, FinFET).
- Expertise in Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
- Hands-on experience laying out critical analog blocks such as temperature sensors, PLLs, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, and differential amplifiers.
- Strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, and device parasitics.
- Ability to assess layout impact on circuit speed, capacitance, power, and area; implement high-quality layouts respecting design constraints.
- Familiarity with memory design hierarchies and architectures; ability to support tape-outs and physical verification of custom layouts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive use of AI-related tools in daily tasks is encouraged.
- Multiple tape-out support experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
BE or MTech in Electronics/VLSI Engineering.
