Job Title
Layout Designer
Role Summary
Design and implement integrated-circuit layouts for analog/mixed-signal blocks, ensuring DRC/LVS compliance and meeting electrical, performance, and manufacturability constraints. Work on a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality block layouts using Cadence VXL and related tools.
Experience Level
Entry-level β requires approximately 2+ years of layout experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include creating and verifying block layouts, resolving layout issues, and supporting design handoff and ECOs.
- Create high-quality layouts and floorplans for analog and mixed-signal blocks.
- Use Cadence VXL and related layout tools to implement layouts and manual routing.
- Perform LVS, DRC, and layout debug; identify and fix layout issues.
- Execute secondary layout tasks such as ECO, LCO, and DFM fixes.
- Apply analog layout fundamentals (matching, electromigration, latch-up mitigation, coupling/crosstalk, IR-drop management, parasitics).
- Assess layout impact on circuit speed, capacitance, power, and area.
- Collaborate with cross-functional, multi-site teams and communicate design details clearly.
- Leverage automation and AI tools where appropriate to improve productivity.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills required to perform the role.
- Minimum ~2 years of hands-on layout experience.
- Experience using Cadence VXL for layout implementation.
- Strong debug and problem-solving skills for LVS, DRC, and layout issues.
- Hands-on experience creating layouts for blocks such as temperature sensors, PLLs, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, and differential amplifiers.
- Solid understanding of analog layout fundamentals and their effect on circuit behavior.
- Proven skills in floor planning and manual routing.
- Experience executing ECO/LCO and applying DFM practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in multi-site teams.
- Willingness to learn design rules and deliver high-quality layouts.
