Job Title

Layout Designer

Role Summary

Develop and prepare multi-dimensional semiconductor layouts and detailed drawings from schematics and geometry provided by design engineers. Verify data integrity and lead major block developments.

Work closely with device design, verification, CAD and test teams across global sites. Improve layout efficiency through automation and new methodologies and adapt quickly to shifting priorities.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of semiconductor layout design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Translate schematics and design geometry into detailed layout drawings.
  • Lead development and delivery of major blocks and product revisions.
  • Verify data integrity and perform physical verification analysis and debugging.
  • Develop and apply custom layout, floor‑planning, signal‑planning and power‑planning methodologies.
  • Coordinate resources, meet scheduled deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
  • Contribute to automation, tooling improvements, and cross‑site collaboration.

Requirements

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must-have: 5+ years of direct semiconductor layout design experience.
  • Must-have: Proficient with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys tools, and Calibre.
  • Must-have: Strong physical verification analysis, root‑cause debugging, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must-have: Experience developing and applying layout, floor‑planning, signal‑planning, and power‑planning methodologies.
  • Must-have: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience implementing automation to improve layout efficiency and working in a globally distributed design environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with or willingness to learn Agentic AI to support workflow efficiency.

Education Requirements

Associate of Science (AS) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is specified; the posting requires this AS plus 5+ years of direct semiconductor layout design experience.
