Senior IC layout engineer responsible for physical implementation of complex blocks from floorplan through signoff. Works on area, performance, power trade-offs and manufacturability while delivering production-quality layouts for customer designs.

Contributes automation, catches physical issues early, and mentors junior engineers to improve team capability.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design ownership, automation, problem resolution, and mentoring.

• Design physical layouts for complex IC blocks, balancing area, performance, power, and manufacturability.
• Develop automation and tooling using Shell, Tcl, and Python to streamline flows.
• Identify and resolve routing congestion, power-integrity issues, DRC/LVS violations, and other layout problems.
• Manage layout projects from floorplanning through signoff and verification.
• Mentor and review work of junior engineers; provide technical guidance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• 5+ years of IC layout design experience covering floorplanning, placement, routing, and verification.
• Advanced proficiency in Shell, Tcl, and Python for automation.
• Strong understanding of layout methodologies, DRC/LVS verification, and signoff flows.
• Experience managing layout projects end to end and delivering to signoff quality.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve physical design issues (routing congestion, IR drop, manufacturability).
• Strong English communication skills and experience mentoring junior engineers.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
