Role Summary

Develop and qualify testing and reliability procedures for Volantis's custom lasers (VCSEL arrays) and integrate test flows with the wafer-scale interposer. Own test plan definition, device characterization, qualification, and scaling from R&D to high-volume production while collaborating with design, packaging, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Partner with the laser design team to define test plans, specifications, and pass/fail criteria for individually addressable VCSEL array designs.
• Characterize prototype devices (LIV, spectral, far-field/beam profile, polarization, thermal, high-speed modulation) and deliver timely analysis to inform design iterations.
• Manage test data, including databases, wafer maps, yield analysis and statistical process control, to track device performance and process variation.
• Design, build, and maintain wafer- and die-level prober systems, test fixtures, and automated test software.
• Own qualification and ramp-up of VCSEL array product testing systems, scaling from R&D characterization to high-volume production test.
• Work with laser design, packaging, and wafer-scale interposer teams to validate device and system reliability.

Requirements

Must-have skills and preferred qualifications:

• Must-have: Hands-on experience with semiconductor laser testing, characterization, validation, reliability and qualification (preferably VCSELs).
• Experience designing prober systems, test fixtures, and related software automation.
• Proficiency with optical and electrical test equipment such as SMUs, optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, VNAs, and beam profilers.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across quality, packaging, and design teams.
• Nice-to-have: Experience qualifying and managing contract manufacturers for high-volume VCSEL test; testing high-density VCSEL arrays (top and bottom emitting); high-speed direct modulation laser diode test; knowledge of SPC and yield improvement; laser reliability qualification (e.g., Telcordia GR-468) and laser packaging experience.
