Job Title
Lab Manager - Hardware Engineering
Role Summary
Manage day-to-day operations of multiple hardware engineering labs supporting silicon bring-up, validation, and engineering experiments across NVIDIA design centers in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune. Lead onsite rework, reflow, and logistics technicians and coordinate lab readiness for multiple product classes.
Primary goals: maximize lab uptime and bring-up readiness, own capital and expense plans, enforce EHS and security controls, and standardize lab operations across sites.
Experience Level
Senior β requires substantial prior experience. The role expects approximately 8+ years of relevant experience with at least 3+ years managing technical lab environments across sites.
Responsibilities
The manager is accountable for lab operations, planning, and execution across multiple sites.
- Operate and run multiple labs across product classes (silicon bring-up, validation, experiments).
- Lead and develop rework, reflow, and logistics technicians, including outsourced staff; delegate opex procurement and execution.
- Forecast lab needs (space, power, cooling, reflow, equipment) and own capital and expense planning.
- Partner with bring-up managers to scope incoming silicon programs and ensure infrastructure and staffing meet milestones.
- Maintain EHS compliance and lab security; own audit readiness and physical IP controls.
- Manage equipment lifecycle: procurement, warranty, calibration, inventory, shipping, and import processes.
- Coordinate with global lab managers to standardize processes and propagate best practices across sites.
- Role involves travel between Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune design centers as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications.
- Overall 8+ years experience in silicon or hardware lab setup, management, and maintenance.
- At least 3+ years managing a technical lab environment and leading teams across sites, including capital/expense planning, vendor and outsourced-worker management, and inventory/logistics tracking.
- Hands-on experience operating lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DAQ, common bench equipment) and hardware assembly/teardown, soldering and rework; familiarity with hardware bring-ups and system debugging.
- Proven ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams (software, validation, ASIC, hardware) and communicate across sites.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with CPU/SoC chip bring-up and validation processes.
- Multi-site or global lab coordination experience (shared standards, vendor frameworks, capacity planning).
- Familiarity using AI productivity tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.) to streamline reporting and operations.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is specified, or equivalent practical experience. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in place of degree.
