Lab Manager β Hardware Engineering
Role Summary
Own and operate hardware engineering labs across NVIDIA's Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune design centers. Lead multi-site teams of rework, reflow, and logistics technicians to ensure lab uptime, enable silicon bring-up and validation, and manage capital and expense planning, safety, and security.
Experience Level
Senior β requires overall 8+ years of experience in silicon/hardware lab setup or management, including at least 3+ years managing technical lab environments and multi-site teams.
Responsibilities
The role is responsible for day-to-day lab operations, long-term capacity planning, and maintaining audit-ready safety and security practices.
- Operate and manage multiple labs across varied product classes (silicon bring-up, validation, engineering experiments).
- Lead and develop technicians and outsourced staff to self-manage procurement, planning, and execution.
- Forecast space, power, cooling, thermal, reflow capability, and equipment needs; own capital and expense plans.
- Partner with bring-up managers to scope incoming silicon programs and staff/infrastructure requirements ahead of milestones.
- Maintain EHS compliance and physical security; establish guidelines, run reviews, and prepare for audits.
- Manage equipment lifecycle: purchasing, warranty, calibration, inventory, shipments, imports, and documentation.
- Coordinate standards and best practices with global lab managers to standardize operations across sites.
- Travel across Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune design centers as required.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills for successful performance in this role.
- Minimum 3+ years managing technical lab environments and leading cross-site teams, with a record of operating a multi-lab section.
- Proven ownership of capital and expense equipment planning, vendor and outsourced-worker management, and inventory/logistics tracking.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DAQ, common test equipment), hardware assembly/teardown, soldering and rework, and system debugging.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (software, validation, ASIC, hardware) and strong communication across sites.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with CPU/SoC chip bring-up and validation processes.
- Multi-site or global lab coordination experience (shared standards, vendor frameworks, capacity planning).
- Familiarity using AI productivity tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude) to streamline reporting and operational workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (as stated in the source posting).
