Lab Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Design, build, and maintain the automation infrastructure for Voltai's hardware validation labs. The role covers software, instrumentation, robotics, and data pipelines used to test, characterize, and qualify silicon and board-level designs.
The position sits on a cross-functional hardware validation team working to automate test execution, measurement analysis, and continuous validation of hardware products.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 5+ years of relevant experience in test automation, instrumentation control, or hardware validation.
Responsibilities
Own the automation systems and workflows that enable repeatable hardware testing and qualification.
- Design, implement, and maintain test automation frameworks (software and orchestration).
- Integrate and control lab instruments and test racks (SCPI, VISA, PXI, etc.).
- Develop data acquisition, measurement analysis, and automated reporting pipelines.
- Support hardware bring-up, test planning, and failure reproduction.
- Integrate robotics and fixtures for automated test execution where applicable.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and data teams to close validation feedback loops.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 5+ years experience in test or lab automation.
- Proficiency in Python, LabVIEW, or comparable test automation frameworks.
- Experience with instrumentation control (SCPI, VISA, PXI, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with data acquisition, measurement analysis, and automating reports.
- Practical experience with hardware bring-up, test planning, and failure reproduction.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience integrating robotics or automated fixtures with test systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for hardware validation and test infrastructure tooling.
