Job Title

Lab Analog Design Senior Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Senior analog/mixed-signal debug engineer on the Synopsys debug team. Responsible for root-cause analysis, simulation and lab validation, and delivering validated fixes for complex analog and mixed-signal issues.

Works closely with lab, analog design, physical design, validation teams and customers to accelerate issue resolution and improve product reliability.

Experience Level

Senior β€” ideally 6+ years of relevant professional experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include investigation, validation, and communication of analog/mixed-signal issues:

  • Perform structured, data-driven root-cause analysis for complex analog and mixed-signal problems.
  • Run and analyze simulations to reproduce issues and develop hypotheses for fixes.
  • Execute lab bench testing and correlate lab results with simulations to confirm causes.
  • Analyze schematics, layouts, and physical-design collateral to isolate failure mechanisms.
  • Develop, validate, and recommend design and layout changes to resolve issues.
  • Produce clear, reusable documentation covering reproduction steps, analysis, and fixes.
  • Engage directly with customers to report findings, status, and mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate across teams to reduce turnaround time and prevent repeat issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred skills listed separately.

  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience (ideally).
  • Strong analog design background with demonstrated end-to-end debug capability.
  • Experience running and evaluating simulations and validating fixes against silicon or lab results.
  • Solid knowledge of physical design and layout fundamentals, including layout-dependent effects.
  • Advanced analytical and structured problem-solving skills to identify root causes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; experience in customer-facing technical discussions.
  • Proven ability to create clear, comprehensive, and reusable technical documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate with design, physical design, lab, and validation teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment and bench validation techniques.
  • MATLAB proficiency for data analysis, modeling, or automation of debug workflows.
  • Experience with automation/scripting to improve debug and reporting efficiency.

Education Requirements
