Junior Embedded Software Engineer – Radar SDK
Role Summary
The Junior Embedded Software Engineer will develop and productize drivers and radar processing kernels for NXP's Radar Software Development Kit (RSDK) on supported NXP platforms. The role is on a multidisciplinary team delivering firmware, drivers and algorithm code that interfaces with hardware accelerators.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Suitable for candidates at junior level, typically 0–3 years of professional experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include development, integration and release support for the RSDK across NXP MCU architectures.
- Implement and maintain RSDK drivers and firmware components in embedded C/C++.
- Integrate radar processing algorithms/kernels to run on NXP hardware accelerators.
- Support release and productization activities aligned to the RSDK roadmap.
- Work with system testing teams to validate quality indicators and resolve defects.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with cross-regional teams.
- Follow required software development processes and quality standards used at NXP.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for immediate contribution.
- Proven programming experience in embedded C/C++.
- Experience developing software for embedded systems, including high-level OS (HLOS) environments and cross-compilation toolchains.
- Theoretical knowledge in linear algebra, signal processing, and machine learning concepts relevant to radar processing.
- Practical understanding of data transfers and conversions between sensors and processing pipelines.
- Good oral and written English communication; able to work in a team and independently.
- Attention to detail, self-motivation, and reliability when handling tasks with security or certification scope.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with hardware accelerators and low-level optimization of signal-processing kernels.
- Familiarity with automotive software/process standards (Automotive SPICE, IATF 16949, ISO 26262, ISO 9001).
- Previous exposure to radar front-end data acquisition or radar-specific toolchains.
Education Requirements
University degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
