Junior Embedded AI Platform Security Engineer (m/f/d)
Role Summary
Join the Innovation Team to research and prototype security and privacy solutions for machine learning on edge devices. The role focuses on protecting ML models and sensitive data, enabling secure execution, and building defenses against adversarial manipulation for later integration into NXP edge products.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Junior). Suitable for candidates with approximately 0–3 years of relevant experience or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Hands-on role to design, prototype, and evaluate ML security and privacy techniques for edge deployment.
- Design and implement model obfuscation and secure packaging techniques.
- Develop IP protection strategies for deployed models.
- Enable secure execution environments for customer models using TEEs and secure enclaves.
- Assess and mitigate adversarial ML threats such as evasion and poisoning attacks.
- Define and prototype privacy-preserving inference mechanisms (e.g., differential privacy).
- Advise on compliance with AI security and privacy regulations (GDPR, EU AI Act).
- Produce prototypes and documentation to support integration into edge products.
Requirements
Technical skills and behaviors required to perform the role.
- Must-have: Knowledge of model protection techniques and IP security.
- Must-have: Familiarity with adversarial ML attacks and defenses.
- Must-have: Understanding of TEEs and secure enclaves; experience applying them to protect model execution.
- Must-have: Knowledge of privacy-preserving ML concepts such as differential privacy; willingness to work on federated learning basics.
- Must-have: Awareness of AI security and privacy regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, EU AI Act).
- Must-have: Security-conscious, reliable working practices; tasks may be in scope of security certifications.
- Nice-to-have: Practical experience deploying ML on edge devices, embedded systems, or secure enclaves.
Education Requirements
Background in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cryptography, or Machine Learning; equivalent practical experience accepted.
