Junior Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work on digital design for microcontroller System-on-Chip (SoC) products as part of a cross-disciplinary engineering team in Catania focused on MCU and mixed-signal products. The role contributes RTL implementation, verification, synthesis, timing and power analysis to deliver integrated silicon features.

The position requires close collaboration with analog, mixed-signal and software teams, following team design methodologies to meet schedule and quality targets.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, verification, and integration of digital sub-circuits for SoC products.

  • Implement RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for digital sub-circuits and features.
  • Perform synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), power analysis, and related EDA tool flows.
  • Apply formal verification and simulation techniques; use hardware emulation where appropriate.
  • Contribute to design-for-testability (DFT) implementation and debug post-silicon issues.
  • Collaborate with analog, mixed-signal, and software teams to define interfaces and optimize system performance.
  • Follow team design methodologies to meet schedules and quality criteria.
  • Create detailed design documentation, specifications, and test plans; participate in design reviews.
  • Monitor industry trends and adopt relevant best practices in digital IC design.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and workplace attributes.

  • Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design and verification.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools for RTL coding, synthesis, STA, and formal verification.
  • Understanding of digital circuit design, timing analysis, power integrity, and low-power design techniques.
  • Practical debugging skills and experience with post-silicon validation or lab debug (preferred).
  • Problem-solving attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work in team-oriented environments.
  • Nice-to-have: basic knowledge of UVM.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
