Junior Automotive System Engineer
Role Summary
Join the System Incubator team to define and develop demos, proof-of-concepts, and system solutions using NXP automotive chips and software. Work across software and system integration to demonstrate applications such as ADAS, in-vehicle networks, connectivity modules, and E/E vehicle architectures.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Junior). Suitable for candidates typically with 0β3 years of relevant industry or internship experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on developing and integrating software and system building blocks to create demonstrators and proof-of-concepts for automotive use cases.
- Design and implement demos, proof-of-concepts, and system solutions using NXP automotive silicon and software.
- Develop and integrate embedded software to enable application-level PoCs and system studies.
- Work on applications such as ADAS, in-vehicle networking, connectivity modules, and E/E architectures.
- Evaluate hardware platforms, build board support packages (BSPs), kernels, and system images.
- Use automotive standards, analysis and simulation tools to validate solutions and investigate issues.
- Collaborate with internal NXP teams and external partners to integrate components and deliver demos.
- Document implementations and test results; communicate findings to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behaviours for day-to-day success.
- Experience in software engineering on embedded platforms.
- Interest and willingness to work with embedded processors and low-level software.
- Hands-on experience with hardware evaluation boards and building BSPs, kernels, or images.
- Curiosity about system-level interactions and integration of multiple building blocks.
- Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written) and ability to work in multicultural teams.
- Willingness to learn new technical skills, tools, and languages quickly.
- Good teamwork and collaboration skills; able to interact with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Nice-to-have: knowledge of electronic design and familiarity with the semiconductor or automotive industry.
Education Requirements
University degree expected: BSc, MSc, PDEng or PhD in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technologies, or an equally relevant field (the posting allows equivalent relevant experience).
