Job Title

IPD (Intelligent Power Device) Design and Evaluation Internship

Role Summary

Work on development and evaluation of IPD (Intelligent Power Device) products for automotive applications. Tasks cover analog and digital design, simulation, layout and device evaluation across the product development cycle.

This is an internship on a product development team focused on replacing mechanical relays and fuses with IPD solutions for electrified and autonomous vehicles.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs (Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral).

Responsibilities

Typical tasks and responsibilities during the internship include:

  • Analog and digital circuit design and simulation for Power Device and mixed-signal products.
  • Layout work and basic physical design for analog/mixed-signal ICs.
  • Design verification, test planning and evaluation of actual devices.
  • Report, document and present design and evaluation results to the development team.
  • Collaborate with multinational engineering team; support integration toward mass-production readiness.

Requirements

Key must-have and preferred criteria:

  • Must-have: Ability to communicate in basic English.
  • Must-have: Obtain Student’s Personal Liability Insurance (or equivalent accident insurance) before starting the internship.
  • Must-have (non-Japanese nationals): Ability to obtain necessary visa/permission to participate in internship activities in Japan.
  • Nice-to-have: Comfortable working in an environment where day-to-day work is primarily in Japanese.
  • Nice-to-have: Research or coursework experience in analog/digital circuits, design verification, or analog layout.

Education Requirements

Enrollment in a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral program in electrical or electronic engineering is required. Preferred research/topics: analog circuits, digital circuits, design verification, analog layout. Student’s Personal Liability Insurance (or equivalent accident insurance) must be acquired before the internship. Non-Japanese students must obtain necessary visa/authorization to participate.
