Digital Engineer

Role Summary

As a Digital IC Design Engineer you'll define, design, model and verify digital circuits and chip architecture to meet performance, power, cost and schedule targets. You'll work on CPU/DSP and heterogeneous multicore shared-memory/cache systems, and may contribute to CPU simulator, ISA and verification development.

This position participates in TI's Career Accelerator Program (CAP) and provides cross-functional exposure to design verification and analog design.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” new graduate / early-career. Position is intended for candidates in TI's entry Career Accelerator Program; no specific years of prior industry experience are required.

Responsibilities

The role's primary responsibilities include:

  • Define and document digital architecture and design specifications in partnership with system and business teams.
  • Perform high-level architecture trade-off analysis to meet performance, power, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Design, model, implement and verify digital circuits, processors, MMUs and shared-memory/cache systems.
  • Develop CPU/DSP simulators, ISA extensions, and behavioral models as required.
  • Participate in design reviews and produce required design and product documentation.
  • Supervise and coordinate IC layout activities to maintain performance standards.
  • Characterize prototypes, develop test specifications, and coordinate with test/product engineering to drive releases.

Key technical and interpersonal expectations.

  • Must-have: Knowledge of digital IC design and verification, architecture analysis, and modeling of processors or complex digital blocks.
  • Ability to develop behavioral models and work with CPU/DSP simulation or ISA development.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with system-level trade-off analysis, prototype characterization, and coordinating test/product engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, teamwork, problem-solving and time-management skills; ability to learn systems and processes quickly.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field is required. A cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher is expected.
