IP/SoC Design - Senior Engineer/Lead
QualcommJob Title
IP/SoC Design - Senior Engineer/Lead
Role Summary
Join the hardware engineering team responsible for IP and SoC micro-architecture and RTL implementation. The role focuses on designing, delivering and driving front-end design milestones across architecture, verification and physical implementation phases for SoC blocks.
Experience Level
Senior - the posting cites experience ranges of approximately 2 to 8+ years in IP/SoC design and micro-architecture; the role expects experienced engineers able to lead design activities.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include design, coordination and delivery of SoC IP blocks and associated front-end tasks.
- Design and micro-architect IP/SoC components and convert architecture into RTL.
- Implement RTL in Verilog and participate in front-end integration into SoC flows.
- Plan, track and manage SoC dependencies and front-end design tasks.
- Drive project milestones across design, verification and physical implementation teams.
- Collaborate on synthesis, timing closure and convergence activities with physical design and verification teams.
- Support silicon bring-up activities including debug and cross-team problem resolution.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for success in this role.
- Proven experience in IP/SoC design and micro-architecture.
- Knowledge of interconnect protocols: CHI, AHB, AXI, ACE, ACE-Lite and NoC concepts.
- Strong digital design background and hands-on RTL development (Verilog).
- Familiarity with multi-core ARMv8/v9 CPU architecture, coherency protocols and virtualization.
- Practical experience with synthesis flows (Synopsys Design Compiler/DCG), and design convergence for timing closure.
- Experience with DFT, verification methodologies, formal verification and silicon debug.
- Working knowledge of Lint, CDC, PLDRC and CLP tools and flows.
- Effective communication and leadership skills; able to coordinate cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Minimum requirement: Bachelor of Engineering (Bachelor's degree) in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related engineering field. The posting also lists Master's (preferred: Master of Engineering in Computer Science or Computer Engineering) and PhD as acceptable qualifications. The posting pairs degree levels with experience expectations (e.g., Bachelor's + ~2 years, Master's + ~1 year); equivalent practical experience is implied by the alternate degree options.
