IP/SoC Design - Senior Engineer
QualcommJob Title
IP/SoC Design - Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Senior hardware engineer on the IP/SoC design team within Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering organization. Responsible for micro-architecture, RTL development, and driving SoC front-end design activities through verification, synthesis, timing closure and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior — role expects experienced engineers. Typical experience range shown in the posting: approximately 2–8+ years in IP/SoC design and micro-architecture.
Responsibilities
Deliver front-end IP and SoC design work and coordinate across verification and physical implementation teams.
- Design and develop RTL (Verilog) for SoC/IP components and micro-architectures.
- Work on interconnect and coherency protocol implementations (CHI/AHB/AXI/ACE/ACE-Lite/NoC).
- Manage SoC dependencies and plan/track front-end design tasks.
- Drive project milestones across design, verification and physical implementation phases.
- Collaborate on synthesis, timing closure, DFT, verification and silicon debug activities.
- Provide technical leadership and clear communication with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
Core technical and practical skills required for immediate contribution.
- 2+ years hands-on IP/SoC design and RTL development experience; demonstrated micro-architecture work.
- Proven Verilog RTL coding experience and good digital design fundamentals.
- Familiarity with interconnect protocols: CHI, AHB, AXI, ACE, ACE-Lite and NoC concepts.
- Understanding of multi-core ARMv8/v9 CPU architecture, coherency protocols and virtualization.
- Working knowledge of synthesis flows (Synopsys DC/DCG), timing closure and convergence processes.
- Experience with verification methodologies, formal verification techniques and silicon debug.
- Working knowledge of static checks and flows: Lint, CDC, PLDRC, CLP, and DFT.
- Effective communication and leadership skills to drive multi-team milestones.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with SoC-level integration and cross-IP coordination on large projects.
- Prior exposure to physical implementation issues and cross-domain optimization.
Education Requirements
Minimum requirement: Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related technical field. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or PhD in the same fields is acceptable; the posting lists Master's as preferred and PhD as acceptable. Degree requirements were listed alongside equivalent professional experience.
