Job Title

IP Post-Silicon Validation Lead

Role Summary

Lead planning, validation, and debug of hardware IP across AMD SOC programs (APU, CPU, Compute, Discrete Graphics). Work within the NBIO team to define end-to-end validation strategies, coordinate cross-functional enablement, and drive technical initiatives that improve IP quality and time-to-market.

Role requires technical leadership across silicon, firmware, BIOS and software integration, and collaboration with architects, verification, diagnostics, emulation, and customer engineering teams.

Experience Level

Senior (Lead-level). Years of experience not specified in the posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Define, document, execute, and report functional test plans and end-to-end validation strategies for multiple IPs.
  • Plan and drive validation and debug activities across pre-silicon, bring-up, system validation, and production phases.
  • Ensure firmware, BIOS, and software alignment to enable IP features and optimize performance and power.
  • Collaborate with IP/domain architects to identify risks and develop architectural or implementation solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional technical discussions and initiatives to resolve issues and improve validation capabilities.
  • Develop automation, tools, and methodologies to enhance IP validation and lab efficiency.
  • Support customer platform issues and provide technical guidance to customer engineering as required.

Requirements

Core technical and leadership requirements. Education requirements are summarized separately below.

  • Must-have: Strong experience in digital logic design/verification and post-silicon validation; extensive ASIC debug techniques and methodologies.
  • Must-have: Practical board/platform-level debug experience (clock/power delivery, sequencing, analysis and optimization) and experience with lab equipment such as protocol/logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Must-have: Strong scripting skills (e.g. Python, Ruby) for automation and tooling development.
  • Must-have: Excellent communication, collaboration, mentoring, and problem-solving skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive issues to closure.
  • Nice-to-have: Deep knowledge of SoC/system architecture areas such as CPU/GPU, memory subsystems, fabrics, high-speed I/O, PCIe, virtualization, security, clocks and resets.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with diagnostics, emulation, pre-silicon 'shift left' activities, and customer-facing support.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
