IP Logic Design Engineer

Role Summary

As an IP Logic Design Engineer within Intel's Central Engineering Group (CEG), you will develop and optimize RTL logic IP blocks and subsystems for integration into SoC and full-chip designs. The role focuses on RTL development, power/performance/area/timing (PPA) optimization, and collaboration with verification and integration teams to deliver production-quality IP.

The position is eligible for a hybrid work model with primary sites in Folsom and Santa Clara, CA.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Guidance: 0–1 years of industry experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years required with a Master's degree.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Write and maintain RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog) for IP blocks and subsystems.
  • Optimize logic to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals.
  • Contribute to architecture and microarchitecture definitions for IP features.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to review plans and ensure comprehensive validation.
  • Debug and resolve RTL test failures and implement corrective fixes.
  • Apply low-power techniques such as clock gating and power gating and work with UPF flows.
  • Support SoC integration and handoff, assisting customers with integration and verification.
  • Use industry-standard EDA tools and methodologies to ensure design integrity and quality.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills:

  • Proficiency in RTL design and development using SystemVerilog and Verilog.
  • Hands-on experience with clock design, clock gating, and clock domain crossing.
  • Experience with UPF low-power coding and debugging techniques.
  • Familiarity with PPA and timing optimization problem-solving approaches.
  • Experience debugging RTL tests and implementing corrective measures.
  • Strong collaboration and clear technical communication across cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Understanding of microarchitecture design principles.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to evolving technologies and industry trends.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred. The posting specifies 0–1 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 0 years with a Master's degree.
