Senior Hardware Engineer – Micro-Architect

Role Summary

Senior hardware micro-architect contributing to the full processor design cycle for Quadric's general-purpose neural processing unit (GPNPU). The role focuses on microarchitecture definition, RTL implementation, and PPA optimization for edge and automotive inference systems.

The team is based in Burlingame, CA; regular in-person collaboration at the Burlingame office is expected.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 5+ years of CPU/GPU/ASIC front-end design experience is expected.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include microarchitecture design, RTL implementation, and driving PPA and timing closure through the full product cycle.

• Define microarchitecture and implement RTL in SystemC or SystemVerilog.
• Optimize power, performance, and area (PPA) for assigned blocks.
• Drive timing closure across front-end and back-end through tapeout.
• Collaborate with software and verification teams to debug issues across the SW/HW stack.
• Lead design, synthesis, and performance modeling for data-parallel hardware.
• Package designs for customer releases and incorporate customer feedback.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and relevant experience.

• Proficiency in SystemC, SystemVerilog, or Verilog.
• Strong background in computer architecture.
• Knowledge of low-power digital design techniques.
• Experience with VCS and Verilog/C co-simulation.
• Experience in data-parallel hardware design for high-performance computing.
• Experience with logic synthesis and performance modeling.

Nice-to-have:

• FPGA design experience.
• Familiarity with automotive safety (ASIL) standards.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field (BS/MS/PhD).
