Job Title

IP Development Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and qualify Soft IP: translate micro-architectural specifications into RTL, verify designs, produce timing collateral, and support SoC integration and deployment. The role sits within an IP/Product Enablement engineering team focused on delivering reusable digital IP to downstream SoC projects.

Experience Level

Entry-level — typically 1–2 years of relevant experience in Soft IP or digital design.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

  • Derive micro-architectural specifications from high-level architecture documents.
  • Implement RTL using SystemVerilog and maintain coding standards.
  • Create testbenches and perform functional verification of IP.
  • Run EDA/design flows and qualification tools to meet delivery standards.
  • Prepare timing collateral and waiver documentation.
  • Support SoC teams in IP integration, usage, and deployment.
  • Work with functional bus protocols and IEEE test standards (e.g., JTAG).
  • Automate flows and scripts to improve productivity and repeatability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document design deliverables.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: Strong digital design fundamentals and demonstrable RTL coding experience in SystemVerilog.
  • Must-have: 1–2 years of experience in Soft IP development, including RTL development, verification, and running design qualification flows.
  • Must-have: Experience creating testbenches and performing functional verification.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with EDA/design tools and timing qualification procedures.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with functional bus protocols and IEEE test standards (e.g., JTAG).
  • Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Perl, Python) to automate flows.
  • Nice-to-have: Internship or prior experience at a VLSI company; project contribution with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, VLSI, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field is cited. The posting specifically references Master's-level study and also allows Bachelor’s degree holders; certifications in related technical fields are mentioned as appropriate. Internship experience in a VLSI company is preferred.
