IP Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Work on verification for Qualcomm's Infra IP team by building and running design verification infrastructure and testbenches. Primary activities include creating DV infrastructure, integrating VIPs, developing and executing test plans, debugging failures, and improving coverage.
This role focuses on delivering high-quality verification for IP blocks and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues and meet program objectives.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical experience: 2+ years hardware engineering or related experience (see Education Requirements for degree-related experience alternatives).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Create and maintain DV infrastructure and testbenches.
- Integrate verification IP (VIPs) and develop test sequences.
- Design and execute test plans; run regressions and analyze results.
- Debug failures, add instrumentation and assertions, and close functional and code coverage.
- Implement monitors, scoreboards, sequencers, and sequences using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Analyze coverage metrics and add tests or debug to improve verification quality.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, and software teams to drive issue resolution.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Strong debugging skills and experience with debugging large testbenches and builds.
- Proficient in UVM and SystemVerilog coding and testbench development.
- Practical knowledge of DV methodologies and common verification tools.
- Ability to write assertions and use coverage-driven verification to close functional gaps.
- Comfort with scripting and automation to increase verification efficiency.
- Strong understanding of digital design concepts.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with LPDDR, PCIe, or CXL protocols.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field plus 2+ years of hardware engineering or related experience; OR Master's degree in the same fields plus 1+ year of related experience; OR a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
